Please forgive me Honda gods for I have sinned. Well, not quite yet but the thought of this has got me thinking real hard. You see, today I went to my dealer to get some parts for my injured 84 Aero when upon exiting the building I was stopped by a stuning scooter. It was a new Aprilia SR50r. It's 2 stroke with direct fuel injection. Front & rear Hydro discs. Inverted fork and the big news, proper seating for 2 up! The later part is what's really got me goin'. I often ride with my lady and the 87' Aero is cramp and slow with the extra weight. (Not saying nothin' bout' your weight honey )
So what else other than a Zuma, could I get? That's 50cc of course. To tell you the truth I'm not so impressed with the Zumas. My friend just got an 07' with 300 miles. It's a 2 stroke so we raced and my Aero walked it. Only at top speed could he cruise with me. So he went and bought an SP3 pipe with new rollers and we went at it again and I walked him again. Only now his top speed is better than mine by 3 clicks.
I love my Aero and the simplicity that goes along with it and I'm a huge Honda fan. Gentleman, this might be my answer though. . . . .
Specs say Zumas are carrying most of a passenger already, at 205 lbs wet. I like everything about the Aprilias except the price. However what you get will be all there is, at least until the aftermarket catches up. Microchip mods are harder than switching out a jet. They are heavy too.
Why the 50cc limit? For the price of the Italian, seems to me that a nice Asian 150 or bigger makes more sense for 2...

Most of my money is spent on scooterparts. The rest is just wasted.

Yeah, I hear ya Aero brother. A 150 would be a better choice for 2 up. However I think the 50 will be a little cheaper to own and operate, insurance for sure. What scoots did you have in mind?
There aren't any Hondas available right now in that range. I'd rather shoot myself in the foot than buy an elite 80. Not my style. Just noticed they finally dropped it for the 09' lineup.
I would think that a larger than 50cc scooter is in order for two up. I weigh 230 and my Elite S runs alot better with a lighter person on it. If he removes the restrictor from the carb on the Zumma, he will run away and hide from you.

No free lunch, eh?
As you probably know by now, I'm a huge fan of the Aero line (I covet 'em daily). But if two-up riding is paramount in one's scooterage priorities, there's a bullet to bite and it doesn't taste much like 50cc.
It gets back to that old Golden Triangle Concept: fast, good, cheap - pick any TWO sides.
I'd highly recommend going with bigger 4stroke for 2 up riding, you'll have more comfort and at a lesser price than the injected Aprilia 50cc, or if staying 50cc a Triton has plenty of space for two up and also much cheaper.
Guess it depends on your budget. Any of the choices will still have low insurance and get great gas mileage.
A nice used Reflex might be in your price range, too.

Hey! That's a nice 150 HondaSan chose to grace our a*ses with eh? Harkens slightly to those eminent EyeTalJet Torpeedoz of yore. Note the simple telescopic front end. Me likey.
BTW, I owned an '82 C70 Pas0porte years ago; a bulletproof, fun ride. Sorry I sold it, I am. But that clone ain't half bad either.
Also, there are deals on HondaSan's lowridin' Helix every so often. A couple buds of mine ride 'em and love 'em. Me? I can't get my spine around the low slung concept, but that trunk is to die for.
Oh man have I been busy. Work, moving, wedding. Ugh.
Thanks for the the ideas guys!
Reflex and Helix aren't my cup. I'm thinking I'll bet ridding alone 75% of the time so a zippy 50 would fit the bill. I"ll have to find some Asian scoot dealers nearby and look at my other options.
I hear ya Kenny about the electronics on this thing. I'll bet all the electronics/fuel system weigh more than the dang motor does!
Thanks again guys for the input. I'll let you know what transpires. -

P.s. Guy- sent payment, thank you.
