87 Honda Spree

Post by cowboy71 »

Hello All,
Has anyone ever had a problem with there fuel gage? I did not fill up my gas tank late last fall when I park it for winter and when I started the spree a couple weeks ago I went to get gas and the fuel gage moved snail pace (very slow) up to full, so the second time I filled the tank it repeated the same thing all over again, and so I took the FUEL UNIT out and moved the little floater thing on the rod up and down and the fuel gage worked great (the gage moved real good like it did last fall before I parked it) so I put it back together and when I went for gas this evening it moved snail pace again and I just can not think why it's doing it now? Can it be a connecter (loose or dirty or could it gummed up) and I just can't see it? I would be very thankful for any advice in this matter. Thanks for reading.

Sounds like its probably the float. I mean if the needle was very responsive to you moving the arm outside of the tank, then it shouldn't be an electrical thing.
