Straight pipe on a Spree

I remember seeing pics of a guy in Michigan on here who put a straight pipe on his Spree instead of the stock muffler. Has anyone gotten good results off of this? Im worried about the backpush difference with the straight pipe as opposed to the muffler, Ive heard sprees mufflers can be very temperamental so I dont want to do this unless better performance is a likely option

The loss of performance will be offset by the fun of ticking off everyone whose path you cross. It won't seem as loud after only a few hours in the saddle. Your healing will deteriorate that quickly.

Those people are wrong. Loud pipes only annoy neighbors.

Bikers have fought for years here in NY for pipe laws, its not an issue here really.....

so hows the performance end of this mod? Ive read of a potential of 5mph faster with the proper piping, or is this a complete myth

No, it will only hurt performance, if you can get it to start/run at all. 2-strokes don't respond well to half-@ssed exhaust pipes.

ah ok, im just looking to get my scooter running faster. I need to clean out the carb tonight and maybe make it run a little on the lean side after adjusting my throttle clip

I was hoping to mod it in some way.

How many MPH do you get off of the belt mod?

I once did fire up my spree with NO pipe, it ran and made my ears ring, didn't ride it as it would have melted the piston. My dad has an old MAC 110 12" chainsaw with no muffler(stripped threads) runs like a raped ape, but it has a fully adjustable carb on it.

He also has a straight pipe on his minibike from *(An old sissy bared minibike from the 50s with a 250cc Hirth sled engine), although I have never witnessed it run, his friends who all got bit by it assure me it ran great. Its pretty much just a downpipe long enough to blow it all on the pavement.

Back when I was 15 I took my spree down the block with no exhaust. It was loud and * and ran like s***.

Thats because it was running crazy lean.

lol I know that now, but I didn't then. I thought for sure it was gonna rip, but unfortunately it only ripped my ears.
