RAN GREAT! and then.....

Post by muppet »

Hey there...

84 honda spree.. put in a new bystarter -- and the bad boy started right up... and drove it a little bit (started/stop 6-7 times -- total miles.. maybe 10)...

and then i was driving it... and nothing.... engine shut down.... and could not get it started again...

walked it home... and cleaned the carb (again)... it actually looked clean... . put the carb back on and sucked the air to make sure gas was flowing... and then !!! wouldn't start... !!

sprayed some starter fluid in the air air intake... got it going (yeah!)...

stated it this morning... it started...

what could have happened? will this happen again?

spark plug was changed earlier this year.

Could have been a particle of dirt or debris from inside gas tank that clogged jets . Might have worked itself loose. Check to make sure there is good exhaust pressure coming out of the end of your muffler. Put hand by end of muffler when spree is running and make sure you can feel good exhaust coming out.
Double check to make sure your spark plug wire is nice and tight on the plug. Also make sure your air filter is clean.

low flash point solvent basically means using a cleaner that wont catch fire easily.

for instince... dont clean with gasoline.

Check the muffler like honda man said. Mine just shut off while I was riding it, and it turned out the exhaust was clogged with dirt from the road.
