Hey everyone...so I finally got Spree #1 to idle and I thought I'd be able to jump over to Spree #2 and start working but then it stopped. I checked to make sure gas and oil were flowing. Check and check. Try to start it again turns and turns and turns and stops like something is stuck. Next try I notice the Oil pump assembly moves a little bit when cranking...pull the oil pump assembly thinking the gear is binding/is bad.
Gear is fine but I notice a small shaving on it so I shove my finger down the oil pump hole...which is where the glove is shoved in this image
and there is all kinds of metal mess in there...including a part that looks like it has a small pop rivet connecting two pieces of metal. Whatever it was it wasn't strong enough to break the oil pump gears.
piston ring, bearings any ideas??? I'm going to do a complete investigation down tomorrow.

imo, it looks like the metal cage that surrounds the balls on one of your crank bearings. i did two engine rebuilds this week, with bad crank bearings.
That is what I think too...how big of a mess should I expect when I go in there, what else could have been screwed up and what is the best way to go about fixing it? I noticed in one of you other posts you joked about video taping yourself rebuilding an engine in 20 min...I'm sure I would find that very helpful to me right about now haha Any help and suggestions with a necessary materials list would be awesome. Thanks in advance everyone.
Going to replace both bearings, rings and was considering getting a couple of new pistons although I don't think I need them (everything looks pretty good/in spec in there). While I'm ordering I'm just going to get 2 of everything, one set for each Spree I'm reviving. When looking online at an OEM dealer I saw two different pistons though. Anyone know the difference between these two pistons? If there is a difference which would be the better one to get?

Well its hard to know without ripping the head out and measuring the i.d of the cylinder. They are the same pistons but they are oversized to account for wear in the cylinder. PISTON (OS 0.25) 13106-GK8-306 ($27.50) is oversize .25 mm, the other .5 mm. So it all depends on the wear.
Nope, crank was ok...but feel a bit of your pain! New parts are on order from http://www.discounthondaparts.com great guys over there! In the mean time I'm cleaning everything and parts should be here by the end of the week. I'm hoping in two weeks I'll have two fully running Sprees! Good luck with your adventure toboggan!
ha, yeah, the crank was a bummer to fins all rubbed to s***.
But same here, hopefully next week i can be zippin around on my spree, i'm looking at buying an elite s as well. so that should be a little fun!
Parts came in today in less than a week!!! The guys over at http://www.discounthondaparts.com are awesome! I highly suggest taking a look there especially if you're on the east coast, they are located in Riverhead, NY (long island).
