Electrical Problems?

Post by jzambon »

I was riding along today and my scoot started making popping noises at idle (red light) that sounded like wires arcing and then stalled. This is the first time stalling had happened, although I had heard the noise before. I tried to look at it when I got home but couldn't find where the noise was coming from - or more importantly, what was going on.

I had just recently changed the plug, cleaned the carb and intake manifold and replaced the fiberglass reeds with carbon fiber ones.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Does it run? Do you have spark?
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

Yes it runs, it sparks. Only occasionally will I hear the popping. It'll pop a few times and the rpm will be noticeably slower. Today for the first time it popped enough to stall (at an intersection).

Thanks!

Pull panels, run at night, look for arcing.
