Adventure Power Battery--> anybody used this?

Post by Accolay »

Has anyone used this battery before? The price is right for me, but I wonder if it'll crap out on me down the road. Thanks in advance.

Let us know how it comes out. I'm in the market too. I've got a car battery hooked up now, but don't think I can get out of the shop with it when I've finished my rebuild.

O'Reilly Auto Parts has a battery for $24 for the CB4LB if there's one nearby.

Cheap ebay batteries suck *, get a diehard from sears for the same price, I had one for 3 years. Let it freeze 2 winters and it still held a good charge for a week. Babied the s*** out of an ebay battery, ran it one season, brought it inside and its dead this spring.

O'Reilly Auto Parts
Oh Really? Sorry, I couldn't resist.
We have Autozone but they are generally high.
Closest O'Reilly is 30 miles away and I don't get up that way often. Might make for an enjoyable ride on my Helix, if the heat ever subsides. It's just not fun riding in the heat.

8AM, I just called O-Reilly store and confirmed the CB4LB for $24. Looks like I got a road trip to make Monday.

I'm buying this battery for a Honda Elite SE50P. When I did an internet search for the OEM battery for the scooter, the (YT4L-BS) This one came up cheap with free shipping. I would have paid more for a battery that was of a higher quality brand name. So, I probably should have done a little more research before using paypal. Aren't they all made in China though?

This Adventure Power Battery off Ebay is only 23.95. I guess I was thinking that an OEM battery was around $40. I probably should have checked if O'Reilly's had it for about the same price. There are three stores within a mile and a half of my place. If a Sears die hard could be found for around 30 dollars, I'd buy that. Do you have that model number? I can't find anything that seems it would fit on the Sears website.

I did find a handy pub online from the Battery Council International, for anybody who wants to be a real battery nerd:

Just go to sears and tell em you need a battery for a Honda Spree, they were less than $30 a few year ago.

Yeah but Kenny, a few year ago, was a few year ago. Doubt you could get it that cheap there now. I paid over $50 from a "wholesale" battery outlet for my SA50, same battery. Company my SIL buys from for MODOT. I'm not too thrilled with recent deals, especially since discovering this O'Reilly deal. The battery on my 2001 project is same, YT4L-BS

Who said, "all made in China"? So just what is not made in China these days? That's why I like the vintage Honda. The quality we used to have. Everybody I talk to with a Chinese bike is having problems. I responded to ad on radio trading post, almost new SUNL with 300 miles, selling for $500. Why would the seller be selling that cheap and that late model if it was any good. When have you heard of a late model Metro or Ruckus selling that cheap?

Don't get me started on Chinese stuff or I'll get all upset, say things I shouldn't and get booted off the forum.

Can't hurt to check, but you are probably right, the war drove lead prices up.

Say what? The way government is shutting mines down didn't help. I live in the lead belt. Many, many mines shut down. EPA is on this cleanup kick right now. They raped my yard, brought in fresh dirt... gumbo clay. Interestingly, I raise three kids on this place, two were honor students, third one played in HS but was on Dean's list in college. So you tell me how harmful the lead has been to my kids. They are fit as a fiddle. So you can stuff that subject in with the China issue. Come on Kenny, don't get me all upset this early in the morning. I'm on my way to buy a battery and then go buy me a genUine DIO.

Bogus info on O'Reilly Battery

Post by Lunytune »

The O'Reilly battery is wrong. Their cross-reference came up with YB4L instead of YT4L. It is 1/4" too wide and 1/4" too tall. Elite battery box is compact and will not tolerate that much oversize.

But it was a nice ride in the cool front that rolled in during the night.

So now back to eBay's battery. I dropped by Autozone. Their price is $49.95. Twice the Adventure Power Battery.

So, how's that Adventure Power battery holding up?
I'm in the market for 2 batteries, 1 for the Elite E to be sold & 1 for my S.

Also, if you leave the switch in the on/run position, does this drain down the battery?

1) Ignition switch if left in the 'on' position *will* discharge your battery, the tail light will be on
2) Run/Stop switch on the right hand control - *will not* discharge your battery. It ties to the CDI, which has no connectivity to the battery.
