no fuel getting to cylinder???? gaahhhh

there's no fuel getting to my cylinder. :/ basically.

the petcock is fine.
i don't think i could clean my carb any more.

i'm totally stuck.
float appears to be working fine, although i mean,... i can't really see what else could go wrong. maybe i'm mistaken?




i really need some help as this is about to be my only vehicle any suggestions would be much appreciated!!!!! thanks

Greetings:

If there's fuel in the tank, the petcock releases and the float opens, there's only one explanation:

No gravity where you live?

Seriously, try to prefill the bowl by drawing vacuum on the petcock for about 10 seconds. Sometimes cranking vacuum isn't enough to get that initial fill.

If that doesn't work, possibilities include reedvalve malfunction, hole in the piston, or badly leaking crank seals. (In order of increasing PITA to remedy...)

this is a good call, it is possible that you have a blocked line going to the carb.

hey, i dont mean to hijack but im in the middle of the same problem after a carb rebuilding and replacing all the seals. There is fuel in the bowl for sure and im almost certain everything is plugged back the way it came. What should the reeds look like? both flat and closed?

Yes both flat and closed. There should be no gaps between the plastic and the metal flaps.

Thanks, I checked all my connections. looks like the throttle needle was sitting in there incorrectly. As soon as i adjusted it the bike started right up, noob mistake, and good luck dean

well, i checked the reed valve and it looked fine to me. then i opened up the cylinder and the head had about 1/16th inch of really hard black buildup which hadn't previously been there.

in the end, i have a second spree which i can't license because it's tabs expired in the '90s, so i pulled the engine head, carb, and reed valve+manifold and stuck it on my scooter =p lol. i feel like i totally cheated, but everything looked fine to me, aside from the head!! i'm so confused. there's a chance it was the reed, but. whatever. my scooter works fine now i went and bought new fuel lines too to fix a separate issue.
