clutch limiter?

Post by spreetime86 »

Does a 1986 honda spree have a clutch limiter on them? If so how easy is it to remove?

There is not a restriction on the pulley. Sprees do not have a variable belt transmissions like the Elite SE/SA50's and Aero50's, thus no need to restrict some models.

Some owners use a wider belt, to make the belt ride higher on the pulley.

But ask around, I don't recall *how much* speed is gained from that change. Might be just something you'd pick up if already needed a belt.

If you have not looked at 'keithw's thread on speeding up an '85 Spree, its good reference to look at.

Basically Sprees were built to be moped speed (30ish), and for Iowa, slower(25). But the '86/'87 is faster than the '84/'85. If you have an Iowa model you can check for a restricting washer in the muffler at the cylinder end. A true non-Iowa Spree also has a different gear ratio in the trans good for about 10%, and a cylinder with different port timing.
