Cleaning Crankcase

Post by flambo »

Hi gang...recently bought an '85 - '86 NQ50, here in New Zealand they are called 'Nifty Fifty's not Spree's. The piston is shredded, I found lots of metal particles in the jug, so probably also lots in the crankcase.

Anyone know a good way to clean it out without having to pull the engine out of the scoot? Cheers.

The engine is so easy to remove that Myspree stole back his installed motor from the thief's Spree in his driveway... I still get a laugh out of that.

Removing the motor is the easy part. The harder part is cracking the case open, b/c you access to some case pullers to get it apart. You can improvise these tools if you're good. You need to crack the case to inspect your lower end bearings at this point anyway, IMHO.

Anyone else got an opinion on this?
