Question on oil pump
1986 honda aero 50: How fast does the oil come up the tube going to the intake manifold? I put on a clear hose, and it moves incredibly slow. Faster if I open the throttle cause it is cable operated, but I t seems to move really slow. I want to make sure my new engine is getting enough oil.
Also the oil doesnt come up the yube "smooth", it pulses, like every 1 second it moves, second later moves again, is this normal? or is it supposed to move fast and steady?

Oil oozes out, rather than squirts.
If you want to be really scientific, if you read the Aero manual it tells you the drip rate in cc's per hour. So you could measure it... a drop every 5 seconds or so sounds about right.

Ok, cool. Thanks for the input guys. Would it be possible to buy a temp guage and hook it up somehow? If so what and how does it work? I would like to monitor the engine temp

guage
What has to be done to the head to mount the CHT gauge? Cause I can also get a CHT gauge from jegs, that would look cool to have an ultralite autometer mounted in the kick panel above the glovebox. But it depends how they are installed, if the ultralite is different installation on the head, then it wont work. Both are CHT gauges.
Or buy some (50'!) K-type thermocouple wire for $30

And a thermocouple-capable multimeter for $20

And you're all set. Doesn't look as clean, but good for temporary use. You can sell the extra wire, and use the multimeter for other things.

GAUGE
Yeah, for $275 I can buy another engine if this one gets too hot? I was just asking about the autometer gauge from jegs, cause their Ultralite CHT Gauge is only about $50, and I am wondering if that will work? or is it completly different? I/ve never seen the one from

I don't think jegs sells guages for air cooled engines, the one i have is for small aircraft/ultra lites and go carts, its a simple 3 wire instal, i put the sending wire on exhaust close to the flange with a hose clamp, just e mail vt cycles, they have so many parts they can't list them on their website.
