Clutch issues?

Post by bigfrank »

I just bought a 1986 honda spree and I noticed that it didn't really engage the clutch very quickly. Acceleration from 0-8mph is really sluggish but then it takes off pretty well. Is this normal? Also, the clutch engagement speed zone seems to have acquired a problem in that it has started to * rather badly until the clutch engages and the whole thing takes off. I'm going to do some exploratory surgery soon, but I was just curious if anyone has experience with this. Thanks.

Sounds normal to me. My 1985 Spree has been doing that since 1985. The Spree is really gutless until the engine gets quit a few revs on it. The * clutch engagement is not normal however. It could be a worn belt.
