update on short

Post by burnt_toast »

Well I decided to try jumping from my car, instead of my dads. Also used different jumper cables.

Lo and behold the backlight came on, and as I cranked the starter she started! 8O

However it was idling super fast, and when I dropped it down from the kickstand it made a big ol skidmark (my spree peeled out! :P lol)

I adjusted the idle air screw, the one with the spring, and the idle went down. However, once I tried riding it bogged real bad and could barely get up to about 20mph before seriously bogging.

What are the stock settings for the screws? also could a bad sparkplug be my problem too? Gonna play around with the spree some more tomorrow.
projects galore :nerd:

A Spree idle circuit can easily plug over the time you've had that thing stored... get out your tools and start cleaning.

FIXED!

Yay, its running nice and smooth once again. Topping out at 28mph on a straight, probably more on a hill.

And as it turns out, the problem wasn't with the carb. or maybe a little bit of that. But the main thing was that the tape i had to cover up the airbox (missing a hinge or two) got loose over time and opened up the box to more airflow. Hence causing it to bog and vacuum at top end.

I retaped the airbox, put in a new plug, and adjusted the air/fuel mixture to idle and wala! Spree is scootin once more. :)
