big bore kit installed now engine is hard to turnover

Post by gatfu »

I ordered taz's big bore kit and installed it tonight. When i have the head on the cylinder with no sparg plug or compression tester i can easily spin the crank with my hand or the starter. when i put either a plug or compression gauge in the head then it becomes alot more difficult to turn the crank by hand and the starter has a hard time as well. it does not sieze up just gets very difficult to turnover. take the plug/gauge out and every thing cranks normally. whats the deal here? am i missing something? everythiing is properly lubed up with 2 stroke oil. and yes i got the old head turned to 44mm. it almost seems as though it's compressing to much when the plug/gauge is in. :*:

That's called higher compression, AKA new found power. First make sure your battery is fully charged. Should read about 12.6 volts when fully charged and when cranking the engine (spark plug in) no lower than 10.5 volts or the battery is bad.

you were right it was simply a weak battery. was confusing though cuz the battery read 12.6 volts however I simply didn't have enough cranking amps. let the battery charge all night and it cranked right up. sometimes its the easy things that get ya. boy the new found compression really requires a full battery to turn it over.

side note:44mm big bore kit kicks total *!!!! I highly recommend it!!

I put a new battery on my 80cc bbk and I have to kickstart, and no, I don't wear flipflops when I do it. I generally wear lace up boots.

Poodle Bites

Greetings:

Quoth The Mad Dog:

Wheelman replies:
They're all puppies! Poodle puppies, in fact. Even if you stroke to 122cc and buid a monster twin-motor 244, it's a puppy. It's all a matter of perspective:

But it sure is great fun seeing how hard we can get 'em to bite.

Don't worry Wheelman. He's bluffing. I invited him to come see me and we'd race but he never showed or even ask where I live.

maddog, I don't want your pink slip, but I'll race you for the biggest steak in town, and we've got a pretty good steakhouse here. That was the challenge before, and it still stands.

Greetings:

You'd probably win, 'Dog! I never open the throttle all the way on that thing. Too scary!

On the other hand, if the finish line is in Utah... I might stand a chance.
