Head Gasket Installation

Post by Dragon »

I did the de-carbonization routine per the tech doc. Now I'm putting it all back together and I have the new head gasket as recommended, but I'm not sure if there is any difference in how I put it on. There is a little double ridge that is obviously designed to be squashed flat when the screws are tightened on the head. Thinking about this from the piston going outward, I can install a ridge up (toward the head) then down; or I can install a ridge down (away from the head) and then up. In other words, should the ridge closest to the piston go up or down? Does it matter?
