What year ruckus vari would be the best on the AF05e? Im heading to the honda dealership to get one, along with a replacement belt.

So what year of ruckus vari is best? and besides the big gear looking thing, do i need to keep my ramp plate? or does that whole thing get replaced?
Only the movable drive face, ramp plate, and slides get replaced. The roller size is the same as your af05 but the weight will depend on your build.

The nps50 variator is the same for all years. It is the Metro vari that has differences.
awesome man. I guess to dumb it down further, If I got a ruckus variator, I would have all the parts mentioned. Just add my big gear part when i reassemble.

squeeze them gently with needle nose pliers, or start one side in the hole a little, press on it with a screwdriver and work around till its totally in the hole then use the old wrist pin to push it into the groove. make sure both of them go into the grooves, and align the gap of the circlip with the bottom of the piston.

the 89 manual shows a different head with diagonal fins, the 87 manual shows a head like yours with it placed like your picture. Interesting???

Looks right to me. Full length fins on the fan side and short fins on the drive side.

se50 has different porting than the 89 and the part numbers are different to back it up.

The '89 I am writing about is the sa50.

The variator is only the movable drive face. Honda USA does not sell it as an assembly so I doubt Honda Canada would. I don't know what you mean by "big gear part."

You should get that head done to match the new size piston

True that. If that head is not done you will have piston smack on the head. Either get the head done or use two base gaskets. If it was me I would get the head done.

Does the base gasket that came with the bbk match up with the ports on the case i only ask because the R model has different porting compaired to the non R most of the bore kits i have seen that are for the se50 afo5e will NOT fit on the R block
