I think what i might do is try out a 12'' go kart shock from northern tool that is pre-loadable

That way i can use the stock spree shock mount point.
It says the eyelet diameter is 1/2'', the bolt that you mount it to is only a 1/4'', so i may have to sleeve the mounting points somehow or figure something out but it should be a heck of a lot easier than relocating the shock mount on the frame.

That shock is eye to eye. You will need an adaptor to make that work with the af16 block. You may also need to offset it anyway depending on your alignment with the frame mount.

Oh crap. I didnt even realize that.
Looks like ill be having to make another little custom doo-dad.
Oh well.

If you try to use the original mount location, the shock will most certainly hit the carb.

You should relocate it to where the voltage regulator mounts.

Haha yeah thats one thing i forgot to test fit last night, so i did it this morning. Ya gotta love the relatively small 21mm OKO

The rear tire is exactly 1'' to the right of being in-line with the frame. The Elite had to have some other offest built in to make everything in-line, guess they dont have that built in offset on the Spree.
So ill just shave off 1'' on the Elite S motor mount on the right side, then stack 1'' in of washer on the left side when i mount the engine. Easy fix, not a huge deal

The 21mm OKO carb is the same size as the 30mm carb.....It will get in the way and it will not fit right with the engine plastics on. Move the top shock mount to the old voltage regulator spot. It is very easy compared to all the other chopping and welding you have been doing.

The rear tire is only 1" off in the rear. It is in the right spot up front.
So logic would say that the engine is mounted crooked

If you chop 1" off the mount's right side (not that that is even possible), it will still be crooked.

that the hard way that you learn, rear wheel not straight...

the s moto mount only will make the rear wheel like an arrow. Not side way...

the blue line need to move the rear, voltage regulator can be used..

For the record, I've never done a Spree-SA/16 swap.

I do have a concern to share. The Spree's stock shock location is mounted right at the end of that reinforced box-section part of the frame backbone. The frame doesn't appear nearly as strong back there at the VR location. It may be a testament to Honda engineering and "Overbuilt" nature that the rearward shock mounting has worked for many. Still I'd be leery of bumpy roads and check back there often if you don't reinforce the frame backbone.

DO NOT DO THAT.

Make it straight. If the rear wheel is not in line with the front wheel, the handling of your spree will be $hitty!

Um okay i dont really follor you when you say the engine is crooked.
I need to take some more pics and really look at whats going on.
I dont think its "crooked", i just think that the Elite mount has an offset of exactly an inch, and somewhere along the Elite moped there is another off-set or so that will re-center the rear tire and make it in-line with the frame

And i know the 21mm wont fit inside the plastics, but it will fit the shock in behind hit without hitting anything
If it does fit with the engine plastics on the i will fiddle around with the egine plastics a little. But i will deal with that problem when and if i run into it. And when the shocks compress the shock actually moves up and away from the carb, not down into. So it wont hit at that point either.
Im still wanting to make the stock mount work, i know it would be easy to move the shock mount
But if i dont move it i can use the 12'' shock from northern tool for $15 a shock, and its preloadable.
I dont see why shaving down the motor mount on the right side, and then adding some washers to the left side is such a no-no

shock hitting carb issue:
If need be, you can offset the mount when you make the adaptor for the shock to connect to the engine block.

I'm not for sure if he's right or not, but I think Jamz is saying the problem isn't offset in the plane of the engine mount bolt. He thinks the problem is an angle between the main frame and subframe you welded on. The tire does seem to point to the left in the pics. Moving it over with saw-and-shim will still leave it at an angle, and make for an interesting ride if that's so.

You're going to have to post more pics if you think the shimming idea will work. Like wheelman said, the wheel is at an angle. I forsee a "dog-walking" spree.

man i made a shock mount in less then 20 minutes that intailes drillin a hole and welding the bolt, the size u need is a m10 x 140mm traffic has done 3 dio swaps and i have done 1 you should listen if u wanna make ur spree ride correct.... by the way u shouldnt have used dio frame just cut a dio mount to fit giving ur motor correct angle.... all u have dont is caused way more work then was needed in the first place... yes it maybe ur first swap but if u use the seach button u will find posts on how to do the swap correctly
