speaking of all of this compression, when i first got my spree i oiled the cylinder to prevent it from seizing. (i have my reasons).

when i put the plug back on, i kicked it over and it seized. took the plug out, kicked over again. plug back on, standing on the kickstart wouldn't turn it over! plug back off, fine. everytime i put the plug on, it would seize. then i let it sit for a while, and it fired right up

That sounds more like hydro-locking. A spoonful of oil takes up most of that tiny combustion chamber. Like all liquids, Oil doesn't compress.
