Rub in in Veedub! :). I happen to like my 4 seasons, i just wish winter was 2 months instead of about 5. Can you hunt Morel mushrooms in Hawaii? Not razzing you, just curious.

To me it looked like the "scooter shop" had one big problem.

They only sold scooters. They should sell/finance scooters, gear, aftermarket, wrenching, specialty tools, oem parts, s*** even donuts and coffee. I've always wondered why people open donut/chinese food shops or some other weird combination but I think thats what keeps the business going.

Maybe one day I can open up scooter/donut/sandwich/ice cream/weed/import shop and make a killing :naughty:

I even saw one guy renting out shop space for motorcycle resoration during the evenings with full use of shop tools and a certified technician helping all the DIY'ers.

He put the shop in the wrong area where there were people he said "couldn't afford them".

Location of the shop and bad economic timing were the downfall of his business.

If they weren't selling then lease them out. Start a certified new or used dealer.

When leases come up then sell them as "certified used".

He already had the inventory and the weather is nice there year round so leasing is possible.

I think selling reliable used scooters as well as new would have possible saved his business.

I go to Michigan State University, and there used to be a moped shop down the road from me. Instead of going out of business they moved to a new location and it got me wondering the same thing. Would it be possible to start a moped store? I noticed in the story that maybe his location was not the best, but starting a moped fad at a college campus really could help boost sales and make the chance for survival greater. Kids here are riding year round, and the roads/location of the school is perfect. There are thousands of kids here with ther parents credit cards willing to buy a 400 dollar moped, and thats exciting to think about.
