Went out and fired it up, seems to run ok. I'll check compression and start taking the bike apart tomorrow. Going to clean out the exhaust and crap too. It's strange that any engine wouldn't make an audible sound under detonation, I wish I knew more about 2 strokes, lol.

Well, I've been researching and reading and asking around here alot lately. Learned alot. Got 2 more sprees since I made this thread. Here's an update! I'll keep adding to this thread for both my wife's bike and mine :D.

- Rebuilt my wife's carb with factory honda parts, cleaned and reinstalled. Replaced spark plug, and checked compression @120. Her bike runs great, and tops out about 34-35 with me on it @165lbs :D. Replaced her tires with stock size nankang front and 80/90-10 dunlop rear.

- Bought another spree for myself w/1200miles for $350. Had a bad carb. After some trial and error cleaning, and alot of research, I eventually ended up buying oem parts and rebuilding the carb off my parts bike (Ill get to that one, lol). Also replaced my tires with same setup as my wife's spree. My bike seems a bit slower then my wife's, around 2 or 3mph slower. Going to be swapping the head out with an '84 head to raise compression. Also going to check condition of reeds and such during tear down. There must be some reason my bike sucks compared to hers, lol.

- While gassing up my wife's spree after work last week, a guy randomly pulls up behind me and asks if I need a parts bike. He lived about 5 blocks from the gas station, and said he had a white '84 spree I could have for free. So about 1/2 and hour later, I picked up a non-running, non-licensed white '84 parts bike. Panels arent in great shape, and it's missing some parts (coil and fan for starters) but it has plenty of usable parts. Plus it was free :D. Thinking of picking up a wrecked or incomplete bike with a title so I can maybe make one usable bike my nephew can use for school. We'll see, in the meantime, it sits in the corner of my garage as a donor for my bike :D. Robbing the head off of it, and already snatched the carb off of it for my bike :D.

Thats it! Pics hopefully on thursday if it's nice!

Got some pics. The front is lowered about an inch now, but doesn't show when its on the kickstand. I made a side stand out of a spare stock stand today, but it was kinda sketchy, and dragged a bit when I made a hard lean to the right, so I just swapped back to the stock stand. Maybe I'll buy a jdm sidestand, but this is okay for now. Here's some pics.

Oh don't you wish it was a motorcycle unfortunately it is just a scooter.
I have a couple of motorcycles and I have never once wished that my scooter was one

^ I might eventually spend the $90 and get one, lol.
So I'm doing the headswap tomorrow, but I'm thinking of doing a mild exhaust and intake porting also. At that point though, would it be recomended that I rejet, and what jet should I run?

Well, busy day. Ported cylinder and intake, swapped heads to the oolder high comp head (sitting about @140psi) and did the pully mod with my ax24 vbelt. Bike is hitting 36-38mph right now! Very very happy :). No bottom end, but that's fine, I'm mostly cruising in 35mph zones, so i m not too worried about bottom end. Very happy with how its riding :)

Here's some pics I took along the way (I had just washed the cylinder in water about an hour earlier, so that's just a little surface rust in the pic):

Running a little lean (plug chop). Should I order a bigger jet? One of the bikes came with an extra #85, but that seems a bit overkill (stock is #68 right?). Maybe drill holes in the intake with the #85 on there to compensate? I'll try it out

I was a professional 2 stroke mechanic for 20 some odd years besides being a 2 stroke champion boat racer and I never once heard a 2 stroke ping and I know of no one else who has either and I ran plenty of them in test tanks.
What makes a 2 stroke immune from pinging?l
Couple of my racier peds will ping with out racing gas but the compression is way over 200lbs
Any motor will ping if you push it hard enough

They aren't immune to it. I've melted my share of pistons to prove it, but you just don't hear it, possibly because the reed intake system makes so much noise. I don'y know. I'll ask my 2 stroke engineer/expert next time I see him.

So if you're running a #89with that setup, then a #85 is way to big for my setup, lol. What size jet should I jump to?

Love the whitewalls on your nq50! My cressida is just my daily, I love that car! Lol. Its bone stock factory manual with custom springs and mr2 struts. The gold car is my track/weekend car. Its an s13 with a built ka24de turbo. Sitting at about 350whp and just under 400flbs :). Its having some issues though, so its barely past breakin, lol, just haven't been driving it :)

back to topic i think a 85 will probably be on the big size best is to get a few jets to play with and a jet drill kit then you can slowly move up in jets till you get what works best with your setup you will also need to do somthing with your air box as its good for stock jetting only
