OK, after the other restrictor this weekend.
If you insist ... Try not to overlook the basic stuffs, air and fuel filter (make sure not clogged or restricted), spark plug (worn, burnt, fouled?), vacuum and fuel lines (cracks / leaks?). To the more technical stuffs, roller weights (maybe flat spots, due time they wear out.), belt (worn, cracked?), clutch (lining does wear out) ,Restricted exhaust pipe (they do get clogged), carburetion (ports gets dirtied/gummed), compression (gaskets, bore or piston ring issue), intake (leaky gaskets, cracks in reeds) ... all of these are good possibilty for your losing top end. Again GL!

Where is the fuel filter??? Can't find it in the diagram. I think this might really be a problem, and thanks for helping a sister

Greetings:

Under the vacuum petcock, you'll see a plastic disc that started off white, now probably stained brown. Carefully pry with a knife between the plastic and the metal fitting that hangs from the tank and it slides out. You did remember to drain the tank first, didn't you? :)

It's not so much a filter as a very fine screen like a coffeemaker permanent filter. Lots of us added Cone O' Stone inline filters for extra insurance, but an intact Honda screen should be OK. The Service Manual should describe how to clean it in Fuel System section.

23 mph? that sucks bad.

Try replacing your belt and see if your speed improves. It should.

Did you take out the variator restrictor plate yet?

OK, I just checked and a SA50P runs a 8 mian jet, while the unrestricted AS50 runs a 78 main jet. So you need to up jett before you run it any more or you can melt the piston. You need a 78 main jet, part number 99101-187-0780. That shoulkd make it run a lot faster.

I AM DEAD. OR CLOSE TO DEAD. ALL OF THE SUDDEN OUT OF NOWHERE LESS THAN 5mph.

Darn. :*: Local mechanic picked it up. He says, did you put oil in with the gas? I say no it just takes regular gas. He says, well your oil is completely dry. Let me get some oil for the thing but your engine might be seized up.

no way, no way. so steamed. thoughts? sympathy?? totally ticked off AND NO MOPED TO RIDE.

If the seizure ain't that bad, can just replace piston rings and rehone bore, shouldn't cost that much. GL!
