I work at Home Depot and am thinking about buying one tomorrow! I have a bunch of 18v cordless ones but dont think they would work, so pneumatic power? this should do the trick?
I have a 14v snap on cordless impact. It spins that nut right off

Then I might just try my 18v makita!
Unless it is an impact, it may not work.
It needs the ratta tat tat.

yup it is a 1200lb torque impact. it should do the job, just didn't want to compromise the threads.

Spray it with pb blast or wd first.

I had one I couldn't get off, tried impact, soak with pb, heat etc.. wouldn't budge.
Eventually ended up hooking a tie down strap from the frame under the motor and then wrapped around the back tire to stop it from spinning. Then got a 4ft pipe on the end of my craftsman ratchet and slowly lowered my weight onto it by hanging from the garage rafters, came right off.
Of course this should be considered a last option

I just actually had this problem too this week. I just had back surgery about a month and half ago and am not really healed. So I threw a tire iron in the wheel to secure it against the engine case and sprayed it with penetrating fluid and used my ratchet and a 6 foot gas pipe. It broke free pretty easily at that point. lol.

glad to hear this is not a unique incident, and I was working today and totally forgot to buy the 1/2" socket adapter for my impact

Apply the rear brake to hold the wheel in place. Sticking something through the rim and wedging it can bend the rim when you apply torque to the nut.

I make my brother or dad sit on the bike, squeeze the brake, and brace themselves.
I have more luck using a star bar (4pt universal tire wrench) vs. my impact or socket wrench + a breaker bar. Everything else just slowly pushes the bike (gearing advantage) but with the star bar I can just yank on it quick enough to break the nut loose.

So a little PB Blaster and my 18v ...it came off with no problem.
Thanks for all the input
