Mystic, what were you trying to say? I really didn't get the point.

What I meant was that if I had a bike that didnt run right but would start up I would say that it ran cause technically it does but not well in order to sell it. Not many people want to buy a ride they have to work on. Bear is right though you should completely disassemble the carb and completely clean it, as much as I hate to admit it he is right
--now i see where the confusion is, I dont read Bear's posts so I didnt see what he had said. When you said you didnt know if the motor ran or not that was from the motor you got another carb from

In that case what I said didnt make any sense hahahhaha

Oh yeah the bike runs. I drive it around town no problem -- just no idle.
Which isn't a huge issue but I'd like to get 'er runnin' right, especially since the rest of the bike is so nice.
I've been through the carb twice. Tonight I'll make a more thorough 3rd pass.
Will keep y'all informed.
Thanks for the help so far!
Push comes to shove, my buddy has a 3rd used carb I can try...

Oh while I am thinking about it, I have a new spark plug for it but my plug has a rubber nipple over it that I don't wanna rip free.
Any tricks for gettin' that sucker off without having to undo that whole cover?
Boy, these things are a lot more complicated (and nicer) than my puch mopeds!

What I need is for the world to see you as the low life slimy liar you are. Your own words prove you are a low life.
generally running means it will crank, not how well it idles or transitions through pilot, midrange, and WOT. Running means running on it's own. Cranking is NOT running, ever.
If i wanted to sell my crappy scooter thats what I would say too hahahha And this makes you a low life slime and a liar times 2.

hahahha I dont have to defend my honor aghainst you Bear. I dont see how you can make the assumuption that I am a low life or slimy by that statement. IF is a big word Bear and I dont knowingly mislead anyone. There is a huge difference between making a joke and making an honest statement. I have spent the past 15 years buying and selling used merchandise, I have a reputation for being an honest, hardworking upstanding member of my community. I am just trying to help and make conversation about something I enjoy. You on the other hand always try to bring people down, you have a poisonous personality which negates any useful information you might offer, I can only imagine what your reputation is in your own community. It would be a sad day indeed for there to be another person like you in the entire world

How about we get back to what is important...helping this guy fix his problem....not feeding your ego which is only matched by the size of your mouth and the lining of your stomach

Does there have to be an argument on every post in here? (note: this question is rhetorical) Everyone on here is here to help people in one way or another.
nickjaynes wrote: (idles at start up, runs great w/ lots of power, but won't idle at all after start up)
When the engine is cold the idle fuel is supplied through an alternate circuit controlled by the bystarter. Once the engine warms up and the bystarter closes, idle fuel is supplied by the pilot (a little tiny hole next to the main jet). Your statement suggests that your bystarter circuit is working fine but the pilot is not, many have had luck cleaning it with the smallest steel guitar string, never use anything that is hardened like a pin etc. as it will break and be stuck there forever necessitating a new carb.
This is all assuming that your carb is all adjusted properly as per the manual.

Well at least you are only half wrong. The idle circuit always flows fuel when the engine is running, even at WOT as long as it is not plugged. At startup in ADDITION to the idle circuit, the bystarter supplies extra fuel for the cold condition of the engine, the same as a choke does.
I do agree that his idle circuit is plugged.

Honor???? What honor? Your own words prove you have no honor. You admitted to being a liar and a cheat and then you talk about you having honor? Well you do have balls, I will give you that, but honor, you have no clue what having honor is about.

All i Have to say is Virtutis gloria merces y virtus junxit mors non seperabite. At least we all agree that the idle circuit is the likely culprit reguardless of our PERSONAL assumptions reguarding moral character

Hey fellas let's quit the argument. No sense in it.
And thank you for the help. I'll go after the idle circuit tonight...we'll see!

Yes, I agree completely with this.. I realized after posting that I made it sound like it doesn't but figured it got the point across.

Any luck with the carb cleaning?

Eh. Not really. Went through it closely. Very clean carb now. All passageways move compressed air nicely. But only idled at the first two stop signs then stalled at third and took a moment to restart.
Did anyone look at my posting about no throttle stop screw on my carb?

So out of both of those carbs there is not one idle screw you can use?
