thanks for the tip guys. it is not fuel, the fuel level stayed at the same spot the whole time and according to the height the fuel bowl was nice and full. spark the whole time also, according to my spark tester. i have spark until it cuts off and when it does not crank it is still sparking.
so here is the pattern, crank and run about 2-4 minutes and dies out, crank right back up an runs again for about 1 minute and dies then it will not crank again for a couple of minutes and then it starts over....

How can it spark if it is not cranking? The ignition can NOT work if the engine is not cranking over.

okay so i just went for a 2 mile ride. runs great after 15 miles an hour but have to feather the throttle to get it to idle at all and to get to 15 is tough as you have very little power and must feather the throttle.
after 15 mph it is fine.... took the carb apart again and cleaned it... no change

Your idle (pilot) circuit is either maladjusted or partially plugged. How did you adjust the idle mixture and the idle speed screws?

The idle speed adjustment is a process and the number listed in the manual is a STARTING point only. Adjust your idle mixture screw per the instructions in the manual then adjust you idle speed so that the rear tire does not rotate while on the center stand, if you do not have a tach. Changes are you problem will be gone.

don't just look at the pictures and the nice little boxes with numbers in them!
