I bet you dont get laughed and pointed at as much on the Elite versus the Spree :P Honestly I loved my Spree very reliable and consistently dependable. Once they break down though in my experience you find a lot of things that need replaced like......the entire motor hahhaha :P the Spree with a dio swap gives you a lot more options as far as tuning and ways to spend your hard earned dollars

I do as well until I tell them that $3 takes me nearly 100 miles. Haha. If you really like the look of the spree. Keep it and swap a motor into it. It can be costly but probably come out close to what it would be if you just went out and bought another one unless you get a sweet deal like I did. :D

As a daily rider in comfort, not sport, mode, I recommend the,'88-01 elite lx, sr, or s. The '94-01 does have a better engine for big mods but not necessary for a 40 mph goal.

When you build motors, you give up fuel economy.

A variated af05 from an '86-93 or an af16 from a '94-01. Runs anywhere from $200 to500 for 35-60 mph respectively.

Does the fuel economy change much when you swap in bigger gears and a performance variator, and clutch springs and a 1500 torque spring? I plan to achieve 50mph with mine for commuting but am looking to keep the best possible fuel economy. I figured this would be the way to do it.

Eliteguy probably does. As for swaps, there will be small fabrications needed but not too difficult. Eliteguy is right, for the 40mph you are looking for, the variated af05e would be the best bet but it still gives you a bit of potential to take it further if you so choose.

I dont see how you are gonna get yours to do 50mph with just a vari and upgear. the upgears need the power of a larger displacement. variator gains about 5 mph as opposed to stock. I wouldnt put a 1.5k clutch spring in for a stocker either. I think 40mph on a stock bore is more realistic with cylinder and intake porting

Not really, you are not increasing the power, just the driveline ratio. You could loose a tad or gain a tad depending on where you spend your time in the powerband.

2.75 is the largest you can put on a Spree rim
