Switched to 32:1 Chevron 89 octane + Redline Two Stroke Race after two or three tanks of 50:1 mix.
My first impression was that the idle was better, less responsive and powerful off the bottom and some surging at part throttle on deceleration but after a weekend of use I'm either used to it or it just isn't that noticeable.
Happy for the extra oil and seemingly adequate fuel as laughably THREE different police officers at and around Laguna Seca kept directing me and my 40-something mph scooter towards highway after which I unavoidably ended up on a FREEWAY low on fuel, sun setting and no practical choice other than continuing on. SA50 was pinned for at least 15 minutes riding on the shoulder at sea level and 60 degrees F.
Time to carry pre-measured 2T oil and maybe convert the oil tank to a fuel tank.

Don't remove your oil pump! It's a useful piece of machinery and increases the reliability of your 2-stroker. The Honda oil pump can easily handle a 100cc BBK. Running without the oil pump is like going back in time to the 1940s. The only time you should be running premix is if you're turning 12,000+RPM, when you should be running a richer oil mixture than stock (2-strokes need more oil at high RPMs). But a 9,000RPM BBK mod, driven in daily traffic, should keep the stock oil pump for reliability.

Would anyone care to second this? I'm curious as to whether it is necessary for all this additional work for the break in with the Malossi BBK. Would using the stock fuel/oil setup be a no no? (with the exception of the jet)

Also the stock pump is made to oil a certain displacment (sc) so dont use it, or do and run a weak premix in the tank

It's been over a year and about 800 mostly wide open throttle miles since I installed the BBK.
I had my first problem recently, which turned out to be broken reed petal on the Malossi carbon fiber reed that was supplied with the BBK.

"Funny" that I held that part in my hand when it was new out of the box, thinking, "I don't really need this", questioning its durability.
Safe to conclude that when your air filter is saturated with gasoline, your reed has failed but I went ahead and did a leakdown test before I removed the reed block.
Back to the stock Honda reed petal and we're good as new, although I don't EDIT: do want to try to find a Boyesen dual stage reed, which were always good to me in my dirt bike days.
While I was at it, I fitted a new spark plug.
I've been running 50:1 89 octane and Redline Two Stroke Race for as long as I can remember, bolstered by Honda recommending 40-50:1 for the much more powerful and higher revving NSR50R engine, better throttle response and knowing that the engine is getting more gasoline this way for a richer mixture.

On the oil pump.
If you don't get it without an explanation, you won't get it with one.

Update.
The fun and games lasted till 2014-01-14 (5272.4 odometer) when something let go in the bottom end.
I procrastinated badly, err, prioritized with an endless list of other tasks that need my attention and $ but I finally split the cases today.
I'll start searching this site but recommendations for a replacement crank would be much appreciated, seems to no longer be available from Honda.

engine number: AF05E3303235 so yes?
Bearing's fine, at least not spun in case and spins okay.

New? I'm probably going to stay away from used if I can help it. I've barely searched, seems that Athena might have a stock replacement crank, model names are confusing, I haven't dug deeper.
