Well considering that I am using an OEM part and the issue was resolved by using a non standard clamp, I'd say my ghetto rigging was quite successful. The flex in most old rubber tubing is lacking much of the time. I thought his solution was a good one, provided he ensures an absolute seal. And yes, I have seen a bit of part pushing on this site, rather than encouragement for trying to find new ways to solve a problem on an old scoot. Yes it is that is just how it came when I bought it. The parts scooter I bought should have the gasket. Does your parts bike have the fan shroud? you will need one of those too.
