I also noticed that a clip from the kickstarter came which was causing a rattle right before it died on me....also did the compression test and read 105 psi so its good I assume.
The float bowl is full should I drain it?
How can I check for spark on the sparkplug?

Float bowl full is good. Don't drain it but it means the carb itself is getting fuel. Whether or not the fuel can leave the carb in to the cylinder is another story

to test for spark use a new or known good plug put it in the boot ground the treads to ground, crank and look for spark. Now this is not the most reliable way and difficult on the spree because everything is covered in plastic. I have the princess auto version(I'm in Canada) of this.

Most part stores and small engine suppliers should carry something along those lines. I use my spark tester so much its nuts. You clip it to ground stick the end in the boot and crank and watch for spark. The compression looks low, I think the manual says 110 for too low a psi.
