Six- nice Gyro stash there! Thanks for the compliments. I've had a few 85/86's- the Gyro X frame is HUGE in comparison. I'm a big dude, so that works for me.[/quote]

I am not sure but I bet your frame will look a lot like mine ...?

66Six has put a lot of Gyros back into running shape and in style. Broken or missing parts only makes a better result :D

-- Re: bore/stroke
Double check your GyroX is a TA01E engine. This is info I found on the TA01E.

I think the bore and stroke for an Aero 50 (NB50) is the same at 40.0 x 39.3. That piston is 13101-GN1-671, and there was an A piston as 13102-GN1-671 and a B piston as 13103-GN1-671. I can't tell you I know any more than that. Good luck.

I found an Ebay ad for someone selling Wiseco pistons with a 2 mm overbore for the Aero 50. The Ebay number is 310473072240. Or you can call Wiseco. Look at their website.

Thanks, everyone for the help! I hope to have this guy up and running this weekend.

Six- yeah, our frames look similarly sized. I was just shocked how much bigger the Gyro X was than the TG50 US version.

Ok, got the Gyro X on the road. I ended up using a Honda Hobbit 40mm piston and matched it to the cylinder skirt. Worked great. Plastics are off for now- they are not in very good shape, so I may leave it skelly... I dunno. Fun fun fun bike. Way more stable than the US Gyros (back end actually stays on the ground), plusher(?) shocks, better accel. I am looking forward to some snow with the rear differential and CVT! I am going to try to fit a Leo ZX on the stock cylinder and see how that does.

I did some investigating and the Gyro X cylinder (for the TA01, TA02 engine) is the same as the Japan/Euro-spec Lead 50 NH50 (AF01 engine). Also the pre-1996 Honda SH50. 40mm bore 39.3mm stroke. Malossi and Airsal both make kits for those bikes, so I will pick one up when I have the chance and report back.

Attached is a pic of said Gyro X with my young'un ready to carve.

Howdy all! Old thread I know...but....l just picked up a 85 GYRO X and can't find much info either, needed a piston and got one from Poland but the skirt is smaller, so still not running. Frame says TD01, don't know where engine # is. So.... any y'all know correct piston # or model?

Thanks all.

I used a Spree piston in my 84 Gyro, if I remember correctly I think I used an actual Honda OEM 1986 piston, that was 0.020" over ( 0.5 mm) got it from CMS in Netherlands. link http://www.cmsnl.com/honda_model8286/ Metric Motorsports in Muskegon does an excellent job of boring cylinders, cheap and quick, sometimes same day service, sometimes next day service.
I don't know if CMS has any more pistons and I don't know if that will fit a 1985 Gyro.
Best of luck with your piston search.

Thanks, I read that thread ...and, I think every other one about Gyro's on this site... :surprise:
