I give up! Found a 98 Razz that works, gonna test drive it and then buy it!! Maybe someone can get this one running some day!

You gave up in 2 days???
If for some reason you are super rich starting or flooding for some reason, full throttle while starting will sometimes clear this out. Follow swimmings suggestions first though, maybe even get a brand new, correct plug, its cheaper than a new Razz:) Mine runs similar with both a 6 and an 8 though and works with old ones as well.
Check ignition coil with a DMM and compare to the manual. Go backwards through the ignition system if the new plug doesn't help. Timing could be off, CDI? <<Both unlikely since it was recently running.
Right now, I have lots of parts but probably not everything:)
update on progress

well, we have now put in some new parts: a coil, a regulator/rectifier, a CDI unit, and a petcock assembly. It still won't start! It did "bang" once when starter fluid was sprayed in the carb....
Ideas? places to locate parts?
BTW, the Razz runs like a charm!

Are you seeing the gas flow good to the bowl ?
Does the bowl fill ?
Should start on gas squirted into the carb...starting fluid is BAD on cylinders because...
it has NO OIL and will wash all the oil down off the cylinder as you crank it.
...remember, you are working on a 2-stroke that needs oil in the gas.
If the bowl is filled with gas, it should pull through the jets if they are open and the
bystarter is functioning.
You may still have dirty-carb syndrome.
Several cleanings are often required.
Keep trying...at least you have a good spark now, right ?

We have a decent spark. ... hard to tell in daylight! Yes, used gas in the carb as well. The bowl is filing with gas. Forgot about the bystarter... the Elite would start fine when the bystarter was bad, just would only run for 10-20 seconds. This one won't start at all. The bystarter is on the list to be replaced.... but I sorta wanted to get it to fire up first!

I also forgot to mention this little nugget of joy.....
The day we looked at it, and fired it up, and it ran for 15 seconds.... the battery was hooked up backwards..... I'm not even sure how that is possible, but that's what happened.
The gentleman told us that the "fuel pump" need replacing. (Easy enough, right????) He wanted his car battery back.....
We bought it, hooked up a car battery the right way, and the mysteries ensued.

Right or wrong, if the bike ran forward with a battery in backwards, I'd probably hook my battery up backwards and look into why that it works that way.
The starter probably doesn't care which way it spins but the motor might(but might not). Some of the electronics might care but they might not...are you 100% sure that this actually happened?:)

Hi T.
check to see if you did any damage with the carb spray?
any rubber got soft? a air leak? change the coil, check the key switch on? any wires got lose? good luck.

Never got the Aero running. I've just listed it on Craigslist. We are in Northern MI, 12 mins from the Mackinac Bridge.
