One other thing that was not mentioned. On a 4 stroke you periodically have to adjust the intake and exhaust valve clearances. On a two stroke you do not. I have a 2 stroke and a 4 stroke. I like both of them. The 2 stroke is definitely quicker off the line than the 4 stroke. The 4 stroke does have a quieter sound and much less exhaust fumes. Both of mine are 50cc engines. You also have to change the oil on a 4 stroke like you would on a car. The 139QMB engine which I have on the 4 stroke needs the oil changed about every 500 miles. On the 2 stroke you never have to change the oil.
