Scooter duty is very hard on belts. The tight turns of the small pulleys, enclosed drive area building heat and general abuse. Fortunately they are enclosed. If it blows up you may be stranded but you shouldn't be picking belt bits out of your hide. It only takes a couple minutes to remove the belt cover. Try different ones. Keep an eye on them and if it starts to shread try something else. The best bet is always the OEM belt but it isn't written in stone.

That's the problem in this country any more. Everyone is looking for someone to blame. Take responsibility for your own actions and give it a try if you want. If it blows up and leaves you walking don't use that kind of belt again and get over it.
