Re: OEM Honda windscreens?
Again not OEM but I found a place that has really cheap / poor quality / China Craftsmanship / the chrome on the front is just plastic but ...Windscreens & mounting brackets for under $30.00 . I put them on a couple bikes and started doing some testing I stuck some LEDs under the plastic and it made the whole outer rim of the windscreen bright RED , So I put a small scratch in one an that lit up like etched glass in red ... so now I might start looking for a place that can do lazer etching and have some sort of design put on the shield . I was fooling around with photoshop and hope it might come out something like this .
Again this is just a photoshop pic ( I also thought put 66SIX backwards then in someones rear view mirror it will look normal )
Hey it might work ?

Re: OEM Honda windscreens?
OK I went and took some photos of the LED windscreen .
I was actually surprised at how good it looked with just the red outline .
So monday I might get another one and hook it up to a black bike that already has LED
ground effects .

Re: OEM Honda windscreens?
Making your own Lexan windscreen ala the Spree with its two bends would not be too difficult/
Obtain 3/32" Lexan from a glass shop. Cut with bandsaw or jigsaw to shape.
Bends require heating up the Lexan along the bend lines. At our commercial glass shop, we had a tool which was a piece of tungsten coil in a line embedded in a concrete board holder. Heated a line on plexiglass up to 48". At home, a heat gun applied and bend over an iron pipe / 2x4, whatever. Need about 350F to get a bend (research exact temp needed)
For a curved shape (vs bent), make a form from foam or wood. Heat Lexan in oven. Lay over the form once it softens (this would be more difficult to get right).
Drill holes (carefully), rubber grommets, holder to bike.
Use Lexan, not plexiglass. Plexiglass shatters.

That windscreen would look a lot better on my bike ....motormike wrote:Thanx for the demo, science-guy......here's a shot of the windscreen that came on '87 elite.....just bought
OK looks great did you buy the bike with it on or did you just get the windscreen ?
If you just got the windscreen do they have any more and how much ???
Looks kick @ss ...
Where did you find that ? could you enclose more photos from the rear and where it mounts ?
I noticed rivits or something on the sides by the light ...
did you have to drill holes ?
does it mount to the mirror holes ?
Really makes your bike look good .

Re: OEM Honda windscreens?
Bought this scoot with factory screen from original owner because ladyfriends was stolen........I've already asked her if she wants to keep it on the bike.......For now, it's try it for a while and assess the feel......Went looking for availability, they are probably out there somewhere, but I didn't find any.......mounting is all very tidy with model-specific brackets that fit under the mirrors......next to the headlight are bumpers, no holes required.......should she decide it cumbersome and unwanted, you're first in line. ps....it is in very fine condition............................
