N9Waterboy: how does the gas tank look inside? sometimes when it has not run, there is sediment in the tank that does not cause problems until you start running it again and it is drawn into the fuel delivery system. But we will not be sure of anything until that jet comes out.

Best test for that is a wet compression test. If dry test fails, squirt a little oil (injection oil fine) in the cylinder and test again. If compression comes up, reeds are fine. On my last rebuild, compression came up to 200 on wet test.toofast34 wrote:check your reeds......

yes, that means the piston rings are wore and that is where the compression loss is. or you can always visually inspect the reeds.Lunytune wrote:Best test for that is a wet compression test. I knew exactly what he meant when he said "slat head" I wire houses on the side so I have plenty of tools. I'm in Bloomington, Indiana just so you guys know, but I'm often 30 minutes out of Chicago on the weekends in Crown Point, IN. Checked my reeds yesterday actually and they are perfect. Will try to take a pic soon and post.

Pershame on you Waterboy. You wire houses, and should know the importance of tools being kept in good condition.N9Waterboy wrote:I knew exactly what he meant when he said "slat head" I wire houses on the side so I have plenty of tools. So we're back to the carburetor. That jet's gotta come out.
