Okay i fixed the wheel-angle issue.
I went into fastenol the other day to pick up a replacement bolt and lock nut for the engine mount
Instead of 10mm it was 3/16, but it fit well and was a "pretty" good fit.
So i put the 10mm back in and actually tightened down the bolts that mount the engine mount to the frame, and the engine to the engine mount.
No more wheel angle

Heres the new shock from northern tool

Gonna have to make a little adapter thing for that
Image
P1010802 by jpetrak, on Flickr
And i see what TJamz means by the engine plastics not fitting in there so good now lol

As for the engine mount, this is what i mean. This is the mount im talking about. As you can see it isn't exactly in-line, but thats the way it was on the Elite to so i left it alone.

This mount

Take 1'' off the right side

Add 1'' to the left side

Since taking 1'' off on the right will also take out the right support arm, i will weld in a steel rod for strength and to beef the mount up a bit.
Thats what i mean
fastplastic wrote:man i made a shock mount in less then 20 minutes that intailes drillin a hole and welding the bolt, the size u need is a m10 x 140mm traffic has done 3 dio swaps and i have done 1 you should listen if u wanna make ur spree ride correct.... by the way u shouldnt have used dio frame just cut a dio mount to fit giving ur motor correct angle.... all u have dont is caused way more work then was needed in the first place... yes it maybe ur first swap but if u use the seach button u will find posts on how to do the swap correctly
No i know, i saw all the posts about it. But i wanted a center stand too, so i did it my way.
And it turned out to be a lot more work than i ever thought. If i had to do it again i would do it the way that has been done previously
So i guess now people know the way not to do it and why

After looking at it some more and really thinking hard about the entire thing i guess ill do things the easy way this time  lol
Ill just drill into the frame, slide the bolt through and then sandwich it with some steel plate

Does it have to be right on the VR mount or could i keep the mount and drill just before that?
Would that cause any plastic alingment or eletrical component interference issues?

Greetings:

When you modify the mount, will that help/hurt/not change the shroud clearance issue?

Whatever happens, we're all wiser for your efforts. Thanks for posting them up, and good luck!

If you try to use the original mount location, the shock will most certainly hit the carb.

You should relocate it to where the voltage regulator mounts.

I know, I know.......you like to do things the hard way.
Yeah it should eliminate all the engine shroud clearance issues, like the blue line shows.

Thank ya wheel-dude

That'll be a low rider
I might spring for a shock extender later if i think its a little too low or if i run into clearnace issues when the shock compresses
(The exhaust is under the frame just to keep it upright)

Nah, i need it to pry the mounting bolts out of the mounts. I dont beat on anything with it. I got a rubber mallet for that

As long as the font of the mount lines up in the center of the hole, it should be centered.

If the front lines up in the center, and the wheel if off center in the rear, the mount is crooked.

How to fix it.

Dremel out the holes in the frame so you can correct the angle of the mount.

Find some large washers and weld them in at the corrected angle. (ask me about this if it is unclear)

I cant move that arm that goes into the tube in the center because then it wont fit in the mount. Id have to hack the mount up.
And the mounting arm, as is, is exactly 1'' off center to the right, which is why im having the issue. I wish i was smart and just moved it to the center right off the bat. Then i wouldnt have this problem
I see what your saying and it makes a lot of sense

Ok...........you don't understand what i am saying.

The tab is where it needs to be.

Dremel out the holes so you can wiggle the mount side to side.

Then weld in washers to make it straight.

It is not off by much, so don't over do it when you dremel the holes.

Yeah now im definately not following you
What tab?
If you need me to i can take pics from all angles of the mount and you can do your little line drawing stuff to help me understand this

Tab = that arm that goes into the tube in the center. You got it right but need to oblong the mounting holes to get it as straight as possible then weld washers in when you got it straight. I have not done a spree/af16 swap but i'm pretty sure that's what t-jamz means.

Oh okay, i see now.
That is a lot easier to do. But then my wheel will now be straight

I understand what he is saying. But i still dont believe that my mount is crooked. It has a 1'' offset and by doing what i stated earlier will fix the offset.

The way your saying TJamz will make my wheel centered, but at an angle. I guess we just look at it two different ways. I dont think its crooked, its got a 1'' offset

It is crooked, it does not have a 1" offset.
Your mount now
Where your mount needs to be.

Dang, alright i see it now.
I guess it is crooked.

***NOTE TO ANYONE***---> Definately dont do it my way

Alright so just dremel the holes a bit and weld washers where things need to line up?
I dont have to screw with the tab?
