so i have done about 5 heat cycles, burn my hand exactly once and swaped out the jet for one i drilled to a hair over 1mm.

i have a couple questions:
i pulled the plug after my last heat cycle and it was slightly moist, i figure thats because its just at idle and its on the rich side.

does that seem ok? i will check my plug tommrrow when i go on my first 5 min ride, because i know that it will change it.

is there anything else i need to make sure i do durring this part of the break in?

thanks for all the help!

Did my first warm up ride yesterday. I kept it to 5 mins and did a max of 20 miles per hour. Szeems to be running great, today ill take it up to 30 for about ten minutes. Seems to have a grip of low end compared to stock bore.
And dam its loud now, my pipe must be working, the v8 on the stock bore was pretty moderate for sound, now it sounds less like a weed wacker and more like a motor cycle.

hey
i think it's pretty neat what your doing. i was interested in that exhaust too, because of the price, heh.
i just got a couple questions, well because. did you open the boost port on your case for the big bore. did you need to. when you get it broke in, can you say what your gas mileage is later. what top speed your able to get to, too. i wonder, did you chamfer your ports on that big bore before you put it on. did you smooth like the exhaust port or anything.
i was wondering because i was kinda doing the same thing. here's my stuff, waiting on the main jet. except that big bore kit, which i'm wonderring about.
here's a picture of all my stuff.

i been watching your post there. i got the 8.9:1 gears. and hi-temp gasket maker, and an exhaust gasket and practice roller weights, to find out what kind i need, and that v8 exhaust. and some transmission gaskets, in case i break it. and a uni-filer. i already got a racing variator. and i started going 35, now i go 42. I'll be racing you

Top speed with just my exhaust and 9:1 gears was 53, I. Plan on dropping to 8.4:1 after breakin, so I should see around 60 or so with good accel to that speed.

As for my bore from scootspecs, I left it completely factory(no porting) opening the boost port wasn't needed but can be done, and I might do that later.

Gas mileage will probably be around 50. Maybe lower...

Oh, and I read a thread that you shouldn't use high temp gasket maker on the exhaust port, I would just stick to the gasket you got with the kit. Or even better some guys cut gaskets out of brass.

As long as you have a big bore, and a big exhaust, go snag an exhaust gasket from an old aircooled vw bug.

Went for a 10 min ride today and its getting banannas. At like a quarter throttle it eats up the speedo, only allowed myself about 30 mph, but man talk about acceleration. It just pulls hard at a quarter throttle, I can't wait to experience wot!

I have about 50 miles on my bore now, so i went for about a twenty minute ride today. It went really well, seems to be running really smooth now. About a 106 jet drilled by me. My plug is more dark grey than dark brown, anyone know what that's about?

Just a temp gun unfortunately... I haven't found an affordable one that I like. Any links to ideas?

So today it got up to about 65 70 up here, and when I went to ride my scooter, it was fine, it just acted way too rich.
Is that because if the warmer weather?
Could it also be because my rings are seating and sealing better thus requiring less fuel/air for an efficient burn?
I know that when its cold, cars typicaly use more gas than when its warmer.
