Interested in seeing pics of this.

If welding's making you sick, you need some more air. Try running a fan or hood.

Anyone ready to call me retarded? I figured out what was causing my bike to load up...

I walked in the garage today, after being away for three days, and low and behold sitting there on the bench was....

Wait for it....

Wait for it....

A number 88 MAIN JET!!!

No freakin wonder!
So that's in the carb and I got the airbox on, but I think I'm just gonna go with a bigger carb. It has no power like Workdog says. The motor runs great but starves for gas and air both, and is lagging around 25MPH or so. And it gets this scent of hot iron after running about ten minutes or so like it's running very hot. At this point in time I'm premixing the gas, because I lost the oil tank hose... Til I find it, I'm running a 32:1 mix of Klotz racing oil and 93 octane.

That stuff is addictive... the smell of it is very very sweet, and everything I've run since switching from AmsOil with it has never failed me.

I know I'm getting lazy with the pics but I promise I have pictures of the build. I'll get them up as soon as I get them from the guy who did the welding.

As for now, it's running, I need a diagram of the vacuum enrichment on the carb. All the vac lines are plugged (gas valve is bad so I honed out the inside of it and plugged the vac port and added an in-line shut off) but man when it is cold I break a sweat trying to start it.

I have a picture on my blackberry of it almost done. It has the better part of the plastic on too!

Anyways, I will get it up as soon as I get to a computer. The engine is lacking power at the moment and I think it has something to do with my hand made exhaust. I have got a GPS trace at 31.5 mph which is unacceptable... I want to try an aftermarket intake and an elite 150 carburetor and see what happens.

That's all for now folks!

I am glad to hear you guys like it. I want to sink more time and cash into it, but I may be getting a 1998 elite s tonight. If I do, this project will be set off to the side for now til I have more time to work on it. Its not exactly street legal to ride with no lights or brakes at the moment, and this elite is supposed to be cherry.

Its been fun tuning on this bike and building it so I have no intentions of giving up on it. Right now it just needs a much bigger carb and intake and the right exhaust pipe. I already have 400 in it, and that's another 225 ish I don't have right now.

Above all the riding experience is most definately different.

So I never got my 1998 Elite... the project continues. Anyhow, we're moving to a new house at the moment so I will take more pics and post once I get settled in and the cable company completes their transfer.
