Many of us have shared that concern, but none from direct experience. I have respect for your opinion. Is your comment the result of first-hand knowledge or from seeing others try this and fail?

I do have first hand knowledge of heat seize on spree engines that had no cooling plastics.
And now that there is a bbk going on this scoot, The chances of it heat seizing are about 99%

The only reason it has not already blown up is, the rich running condidtion, and possibly the fact that is it still pretty cool temps outside in Indiana.

Having no seat bucket probably DOES help too. But What happens when your not moving down the road?
Engine temps are at ther highest AFTER WOT runs, not during them.

My educated guess is that one hot summer day you will come to a stop light or something, after being WOT, and this motor will just die.

I too have respect for the opinions put forth here, and appreciate the warnings. I will be testing this moped in the 105 F summer head soon enough and will certainly post my results.
So far I haven't obtained a heat temp gauge. If she blows up then I will be going bigger and installing the duct work. Just can't help but want to go 72cc's anyway.

ran my first ever spree exactly like that for a solid 2yrs with no major seize, but that was with plastics removed, similar to this bike

however chances for a seize are WAYY higher with no forced convection happening.
projects galore :nerd:

That is the awesome-est heat shield I've ever seen! Just be careful not to lacerate your posterior tibial artery if you have to paddle around the parking lot.
