Do i just take the outer ring off, and put the whole thing back on without it? How does the rollers and everything stay in as the outer ring holds it all together?

yes. it doesn't necessarily hold it all together. before i did the ruckus vari mod, i rode without the outer ring for the entire riding season. nobody uses it.

on my 2001 I was able to get another 3-4 mph (after removing the "outer ring") by grinding the "drive face boss" an eighth inch shorter too.

I also got given today a honda SH50 from a friend who had it in there barn for 8 years, managed to get it to run by putting fuel in the piston, but no fuel draining from the tank so i think i may need to clean out the petock. What do you reckon?
