At what point did I, or anyone, b**** about the economy? I wouldn't put my hard earned money into a piece of crap vehicle, no matter who makes it nor the fiscal situation of the country.
You would rather support some other country than your own.

If they make it better, so be it. This whole board is full of people buying italian/taiwanese parts for their japanese mopeds anyway. It must be fun up on that high horse of yours.

Foreign cars USED cars are OK as they are helping someone here in the US! Just don't buy them NEW.

I've only owned a few imports, '65 Datsun Fairlady, '76 Fiat X19, '65 and '68 Beetles, '71 VW Single Cab, '81 VW Vanagon, '89 Suzuki Sidekick, '08 Scion xB, '89 Mazda 323, '88 Mazda 323. But for American, triple that number. Lots of '50's and '60's AMCs, Dodge and a few Chevys and a Ford thrown in there.
As for American made, 51% American content makes it American built.

Let's see, I bought the '68 in 1982 and finally sold it in 2005. Rebuilt the lower end in '82, new jugs and heads in '84. Oil changes and valve adjustments every 2000 miles from then on. I think I put over 150K miles on it, I think it had 300K when I sold it. I'd say reliability is well above the bar.

If I had my druthers, I'd put a 1776 in the bug with a single Dellorto and headers, not too fast, but a more inexpensive way to give the old 1500/1600 more umph!

A real Hemi or one of the fake Hemi that Mopar is pushing now?
