The reed stops are also restricting the air flow. My Black has NO reed stops, so the walls of the manifold are what restrict how far the reeds can open, which can allow a higher maximum air flow which raises max RPM = speed.

These reeds fit the BIG black intake............no restricting reed stops here.

Why do you fear another view? Oh and I am not wrong. My Black has a totally different reed set up than any of my regular CTs, 4 or 6 reed. and in my opinion it is better than the one that Tjamz has.

OK enlighten us... why is your CT Black superior?... not because it has more volume... nor larger more unrestricted reeds.. and they are both black... I give up... its better because... wait I know why... because its yours
A single big hole will pass more air than 2 smaller holes, even though they are larger in area, because they have more surface area which lowers air volume. All of this is basic physics and if you are unaware of that, I am sorry that your education is lacking, but that is not my fault and does not make you right.
On another note, the numerous openings, as in the 6 petal reed (especially the dual stage reeds) set up, is better for drag racing with an automatic, in this case as CVT, transmission. Why because they will keep the air velocity higher at low RPM, there by help the engine make low end torque and improving the 60 foot times and the ET. But again this is all basic 2 stroke stuff.

I never mentioned 6 petal reeds.
The total reed area of the Big CT (4 petal by the way) is way larger then the area of the smaller CT also with 4 petals.. or even one with 2 petals...no way to flow more air through the smaller area of the small CT under the same vacuum... physics also.
This thread is about a 125cc build and the big CT was made to work better than the small CT with the big CC strokers while the smaller one works great on smaller CC motors
Build a big stroker and run both setups... like others here have... your all talk and no action old man.

Even if the big flows better than the regular, is the regular ct at choked flow with a larger displacement engine? It seems to me that higher velocities through the intake would produce beter atomization of the fuel. In that case, wouldn't the big ct cause slow air velocities in moderate displacements?

You say way larger, but 2 holes with 20% more area will equal one smaller single hole.

Every racer that knows their stuff knows that ET is about the first 60 ft and the first 600 feet. Big mph means you have thrown away ET for a big mph number. I am continually surprised by you lack of knowledge of drag racing.
