You can run a stock bore with gearing only and hit 50-55mph
You should get a bigger carb/intake 18mm,
There's a bike down here, 72cc, gearing, stock air box/pipe/intake with a 18 carb and it hit's 70's on the flats, mean port job though

you also need to mention that guy hold the 1/8 mile record for hawaii. kind of unfair when his 72 smoke most strokers out there. So it's in the tuning as well.85stroka wrote:bore only no gearing 50-55MySpree wrote:well now that i have a dio. i think im gonna join this conversation. i went and picked up my 1997 honda elite sa50. o yea dio babay!well so what is a good bore kit to put on my elite. i want a bolt on and go. no porting like sam ( mopedman ) my elite tops at a little over 40. with a bore kit how fast will it go ( generally )?

most of the times the bore kit comes with jet but if it didn't alot of times there is bits that the moped dealers use to drill out the stock jet to the proper size depending if you run the bore kit with airbox, pod filter or open carb.A shop like VT would know the size you could start with.diomike wrote:the problem with the stoke carb is a cant get the any jets here.
so around 70-75km/h it bogssssssssssssssssss and thats whe my friend passes me on his fumma errrrrrrrrrr lol

does this mean you know that the motor will run better with the larger carb cause that is not always the case. It's still all in the tuning and it would be easier for him to have the stock carb tuned with a simple drilling out of a jet than to install a new carb with intake with no idea on where to start. With the stock carb it's pretty much answered by most makers of the kits because they make the bore kit the stock carb in mind hence haveng the jet available in alot of the cases. To me the last thin you want to get is the carb and the manifold.85stroka wrote:that why I put "you should"hrnytrtlsgsxr wrote:it's not necessary to run a larger carb for a bore kit.
list in priority of what things you do.
derestrict the stock pipe and such
change pulley to aftermarket pulley
bore kit with gears to match.(stick with the airbox cause it is quieter and is proven you don't have to run a pod filter or be open carb to go faster)
Shoe springs and center spring if needed(sometimes it is not)
exhaust to match the bore
intake and carb
