Gyro - general thread

Re: Gyro - general thread
New member... been lurking for years. Finally able to fit some wider taller tires to my 85. Before & after.
Re: Gyro - general thread
Lucky to have a spare rear fender to hack on... raised it up about 3.5 inches to get clearance.
Re: Gyro - general thread
siggy...I see you have increased wheel size to 8 inch....I have been running a similar tire on the stock wheels for the purpose of minimotard racing. Please tell us of the wheel you are using and the way you have it mounted to the hub. So far, the only way that "we" have found to change wheels is to make a custom adapter. Eagerly waiting for some explanation....

Re: Gyro - general thread
I know just what you mean. Spent lots of time pondering the rear wheel situation. I'm not using any adaptors.
.
It started with some eBay Suzuki LT80 atv rims. 1.5 neg offset 4.125 positive / 8x5.625 size. The set I bought had dual bolt pattern of 3/120 and 4/80. After dremeling off the three little locator tabs on the Gyro hubs, they bolted right on. The problem was they were sent drilled off-center. Not concentric. I had to re-drill them but the 1.5 negative offset was the key for Gyro application.

Check the listing for eBay item 260430859870. They are steel. Alloy would have been nicer but these were ripe for picking
Re: Gyro - general thread
Started out with one set of 3/120 holes but they made the rim wobble noticeably, were not properly centered. Drilled another set of 3/120 holes to correct the error.

Re: Gyro - general thread
I'd seen your scooter images. Looks very nice!
I'll get the real camera out one of these days for proper pics. Anyway, I'm still messing around with details. My latest addition:

Few months ago...
I was lucky to get a New rear fender and New seat from Honda a few years back. Bought the 86 color deals from a guy, the letters were cut individually and not on a red background, so they look just right on the new shiny black fender.

Re: Gyro - general thread
As she sits today. The taller real wheel appears to have added 3 to 4 mph to my top speed. Was running 28-9 mph. Now goes 32-33. Have yet to mess with any tuning, as this gyro has mainly been used by my kids for putting around the neighborhood. I have an aftermarket carb on it, haven't changed any jetting around. Any advice appreciated.
I just got proper plates and now actually Street Legal.

Viva la difference! 16x6.50-8

Finding quad wheels here in TN. is like finding eggs in the hen-house...no problem...
Your efforts and the share are most appreciated. I'm afraid the track-trike [currently running 15x6.00x6] will suffer some accelleration kwikness by going this big, but I also have a street-trike and this is exactly what I was wanting for it. No doubt, I WILL try them on the track.

Re: Gyro - general thread
The tire as mounted measures 15.7 inches diameter. The acceleration did not suffer nearly what I had anticipated. Some 16.5 tires measure 16.7. It all matters...

Hello graphite9....you are already in the best place to source Gyro parts.
...I can see that you will need several parts to put this trike into factory stock condition, if that's even what you want. The battery cover, rear fender assembly, airbox lid, mid-frame plastic and metal divider to name what is visible. I can help you with the air filter parts and mid-frame trim pieces. Send me a pm with the stuff you want and we'll get something put together......
