I read somewhere that the 86 and 87 head were the desired head.

So your saying that the head of the 84 is better adapt to the piston of a 87? So when you mix a dome piston from an 87 with a head from a 84 it would increase performance, not bad, I might try that, what else you got?

try the head swap you wont be desapointed  to free more power also ive done this home made header manny times....listen cearfoly first take a grinder and cut open the stock mufler by the middle take out all the chambers and fiber glass noise supresor youst leaving a big tube that it has inside at the end of the pipe and aiso leave 2 eanches of the small tube at the end of the pipe.. then wheld it ..you will have exactly the sound of a 2 cicle four track ..you might loase a bit low end torque but you will gain top end...ps it will be mutch noisier......the faster spree i saw back in the 80s with its stock motor and this and a few other tricks ran 47 mph.....and is no yoke....

Just received my 84 spree head today for my 86 spree, I will try it out as soon as my new tires and rim arrives so I road test it. I also ported the intake yesterday.

My scoot currently has a A jug on it and runing fine with out the 84 head, but I have a B jug sitting in the garage, which jug should I use for this dome piston small combustion chamber combo, A or B?

Blow up? What does that mean, literally blow up, if its to high compression or not enough clearance? I would image if the compression is to high, just to increase the octance level, perhaps 93 octane, now if its a clearance issue I would say to bad wont work, However I will try it to see what happens. If anyone here has tried it with bad results please let me know before I destroy my engine.

Dont know about the head gasket, I peeled my old one off and it came off cleanly, the only reason I would say no is because it is compressed. Anyhow sometime next week i will have my spree running, hopefully I can get it to keep up with my modified Honda metropolitan, so far it out accerlates it but is limited to 34mph, compared to my metro's 40+mph.
