The first indication of bad reeds is hard to start and poor idle with fuel being spit back into the air box.

From about 3/4 throttle on up you don't even need reeds.

well im thinking that the leak is coming from were the intake meats up with the engine. thats why i asked.

im thinking thats were its coming fromm because when i had it running i sprayed a little starter fluid and it seemed like it reved up when i sprayed it there

Always a safe bet. Just make sure all the surfaces are clean and flat with no dings. Also make sure the bolt holes a clear of debris and the threads are intact. Oh and use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts.

what if there happens to be some dent in the surface were the gasket goes .. and buy off hand do you know what the torqe spec is

Not off hand, but I, just like you need to use the service manual to find this information.

Greetings:

The 6mm bolts take 6 or 8 ft-lbs IIRC. The Generic section in the front of the Service Manuals have a list of torques for every bolt size unless specified otherwise in each manual section. I'll have a look if there is a spec in my old Aero manual.

Greetings:

Page 1-5 in the Torque values lists the "6m Screw" as taking 7 ft.-lbs. Use a torque wrench designed for acuracy with small fasteners. Some use the 1/8th drive and measure in Inch-Pounds. 7x12 = 72

if i replaced the gaskets on the intake and bought a new pedcock do you think it would solve my over reving problen and stop the vacume leak

Yeah dude i had this problem You must be a newbie to bikes haha so i am i.. But hey Pull off the throttle on the motor and make sure it just slides right in and when u pull the gas back like ur riding it should just slide up and down easy. And shouldnt stick. Try that.

iknow for a fact that its not the throtle cable it has to be a vacume leake
