No, Bear, I do believe it. It happened to me, remember?
One starry night, with the mercury at -32 F, my girlfriend and I mounted up leaving the local watering hole and headed across the frozen lake. The speedo hit 74 - and that was 2-up. It never happened again, but I swear by all that is Holy it happened that night. -Wheelman-111
Tailwind, lean-running engine, and really good luck - Hey it could happen to anyone!

Yeah, with a 32┬░ air temp you would have a higher air density = more power but he did not have that, just no airbox which you know is not gonna give a 20% increase.

Bear, When did I ever say anything about not having an airbox? And once again, it was my spreedometer, not GPS, and I never once said that it was 100% right. I was on a 35mph four lane road, and I was passing cars; I never once stated it was 100% accurate. Sure, cars could have been going slower than the speed limit, but that would be the first time in the history of my town. Once I GPS it, I will post an update. But it wont be today because it is raining here.

Bear was thinking of this.

Two people , both claiming 40mph on the
spreedometer. A
very inaccurate measuring device

.
You both are probably going about 35-38mph.

This is 42mph on a 1987
spreedometer with a 2.5 tire

Jeebus, Jamz! You hacking my photobucket?
The reason that your claim of 39mph was contested is simple;
Carnie wrote:I was riding around today and on one stretch of flat ground I got my ol Spreezie up to 39mph. All stock. I am pretty pleased.

If it is all stock, it will not do this on flat ground. People do alot of work on theirs to get them to go 39mph. It's just the way it is. Some topics spark debate, and those topics would be A) "What brand of oil should I use?" and B) "My spree goes 40mph."
No one has tried to tell you you didn't hit 39 on the spreedo, but instead that your bike is a liar. Not you.
And my spree goes 40+mph.

Sweeeet.
Just shot the video..... It is hard to ride your spree on handed
Hard to tell how fast it is because as soon as you give it more than 1/2 throttle, it buries the needle!

Both haha i would rather have top end then acceleration but those can be easily swapped by changing the gears right?
