One way to test it before you install i ... ting good;

dun rite, it's a good idea but from what I can discerne from the article, I have the opposite of a bad bystarter...
This sounds like what my bike is suffering from: "When the pilot jet is clogged, once the bystarter system shuts of extra fuel, the engine will die." This might be an explanation...'cept my pilot jet isn't clogged...hmmm
But from what I read, my bike seems to have the opposite problem. No issue starting up, just after the bike warms up a bit, it stops idling. Plus, as I mentioned, throttle bogs a bit in mid-speed range...
Any other ideas?

i was thinking that maybe the bystarter isn't closing all the way and allowing a little to much fuel at idle and flooding the engine, don't know.
might be that the small pilot hole is still partially plugged and not allowing enough fuel. you might have to use a carb dip solution and soak the carb a few hours.

Yeah I think a good carb soak is the next step...and then going to my local repair shop and using their air compressor...

OK! So I got the bike running and unplugged the bystarter and then went for a ride. The bike idled the entire time.
So this tells me I need to clean the carb...again...and more.
I'm gonna go get a carb dip and let it soak a bit this weekend.
Also pulled the plug. It was a ratty old Autolite plug.
Replaced it with stock NGK.
Enjoyed my ride at sunset in tshirt and shorts through Portland!

FYI, it does not matter which lead from the bystarter goes to positive or negative on the battery. The d*** thing uses AC from the alternator and is NOT grounded to the frame. Just connect the leads to the battery, but do NOT count on seeing the needle move. It is super slow. Measure it before you start and after 5 minutes measure it again. This is what happens when the children students run the school. Bad info all over the place.

So can I trust wikispreedia when it says that if the bike runs better with the bystarter disconnected then the idle jet must be plugged?

Half the stuff on the internet is either bad or corrupted. With all the bad info on these forums you should know that.

OK so a 16-hour carb dip had no effect.
Everything seems to flow well for me...
But the d*** thing doesn't idle when the bystarter is plugged in...
Is there any issue with just leaving the * thing permanently unplugged so I can go about my life and not have to tear this thing down every night?
