OK, here's the deal with the pipes.

- The seem to make the engine top out at a higher RPM. You lose some lowend torque, best fix is some stiffer clutch springs, which can be mailordered. You may also need to play with the carb main jet.

- I've fixed the clearance to fan problem, I've now got 20mm clearance to the fan shroud.

- There's a ground clearance issue with the pipe that I can't figure out how to fix. The pipe is lower than the ground line of the frame. I'm constantly bashing the frame on my driveway ramp, now the pipe is hitting. It doesn't effect cornering (you'll grind the floorboards first,) but I want to make sure ppl are aware of it.

I've ordered 5 of the expansion chambers to mod up. The pipes will be $85 + $15 shipping (unless you pick them up) AND the buyer needs to ship/bring me their downpipe, which I will then weld up. Payment can either be check or Paypal.

The part that I need (downtube) is pretty light, so it can be mailed in a manila envelope. I will post a detailed photo later on what exactly I'm looking for.

First come, first served. PM me or email if interested.

Lifting Spree

Post by bowman2 »

What is the largest size wheel and tire you can put on a spree. may be able to raise it that way. One inch might do it.

Running an earlier Elite 50 SE50 or SB50 shock gives you a 1" lift. I have one on the shelf that I need to swap in. Also better damping and a firmer spring overall.

I believe so, they look identical other than one is 1" longer and has thicker coils.

I can verify that the elite shock is a direct bolt on. I have one on my bike but didnt ride it yet as im rebuliding the engine. This raises the bike but it wont give you more ground clearance.

the shock doesnt give you any ground clearance at all it only gives you more cushing and tire clearance. the bottom of the frame to the ground will never change unless to run bigger tires or something to that effect.

The pipes I'm building are a bolt up.

They'd be painted black, otherwise identical. I would need to get the downpipe for them, though. To get started, I'd want 5 orders with 50%deposits to order materials, via Paypal, and I'd need about 3 weeks to get the materials and weld them up.

If really interested, PM me and we can discuss it.
Is there any reason that you couldnt use more of the original pipe to get the thing farther back and higher off the ground? I'm just curious. Also if you did use more pipe could u use less of an expansion chamber? What would the result be. I'm not mechanical but curious by nature.

I assume the whole thing has to be the original length but i was wondering about compromise between some performance and some height. Also wondering if a compromised pipe like that might not require less fiddling with jets and what not. Say you made a nice bolt on that fit in the same space as the original muffler and gained 3 mph? Heck that would be worth it to me.

Course im weird.
