TIRE CALAMITY
I thought that finding a rear tire for my gyro that was going to be a nightmare. no one makes the original size anymore. I thought my gyro days were over. LOW AND BEHOLD i go down to my local WAL-MART and they have in the back of the store, tires that were 1/2 inch over the original size. i had brought my rim with me to try the size out. FANTASTIC! they fit perfectly and to top it all off, i found two new inner tubes at TSC as well.
Now this is great. i found the hardest size of tire for a scooter that i can think of at Walmart. unfortunately my front tire is pretty much done for. I thought to my self, 'finding a tire to fit the front rim should be easy! I mean they still use that size tire today!" boy was i wrong. i looked EVERYWHERE. finally jp cycles showed that they had some
SO i went to jp cycles and got this tire:

I waited a week. tire shows up. i open the box and.....its a completely different tire and its the wrong size!!! i didn't think jpcycles could screw up this bad.
so i called them and they said don't send it back because it would cost to much. they are going to send me a new tire that is the right size for FREE!!! so now i have two tire for the price of one.
this is the tire they are sending me:

sorry for the really long rant. just needed to blow off some steam.
i think we should create a forum for parts that we find that will work on the gyro or can make work on the gyro

i wish i could say that. my uncle CAN though. he was cruising through some small town and stopped in at a local scooter shop aand asked if he had any parts for a honda gyro. this is what my uncle told me:
"I walked in and asked him if he had any parts for a honda gyro and he said, "yes i do hold on". it was about ten minutes and he came back and said, "I need your help sir for a minute". so i went to the back with him and he had several boxes laid out on the floor. he said, "this is all the parts i have and i cant seem to sell them". I told him that i have several gyros and i might be interested if the price is right. he said he would sell it all $500"
my uncle bought those parts, here is what all he got:
a carburetor cover
two sets of turn-signals
2 headlights
a new gas tank with lid
a speedometer
various engine components (jugs, pistons, connecting rods, carbs, ect)
two rear fenders
4 front tires
and to top it all off
4 sets of brand new still in the box dunlop rear tires!
we had enough parts to fix all of our gyros that didnt run.

So, has anyone found a way to work with the misplaced exhaust port connector so we can use a Spree or Elite big bore kit on the Gyro? It seems like everything would work except the connector would hit the crankcase.

So everything lines up on the crankcase?

Do you think it is possible to stretch a gyro the same as you could a ruckus. I think it would be cool to make the arm longer but i dont want to make it to long, maybe add 3 to 5 inches of length of the back end.

The gyro is one freaky looking gadget...I love it! They were never sold in australia and I had no knowledge that there was anything that even remotely looked like these. There looks like a lot of complex geometry involved in the rear end of the bike - would lengthening the framework adversely affect handling?

I always wanted to throw a spoked wheel on a gyro .
And just knew it could be done ...
Well I picked up a Hobbit last week did some quick mesurements and
I think the front forks and wheel will fit .
Only problem is I started messing around with the Hobbit
got it running and it's kinda fun to ride and at 30 seems pretty fast and
there are a lot of after market up grades . I wonder what I will do with it after the front end is gone bye bye ?
I did a mock - up photoshop pic of what it might look like ,
I did it really fast just to get an idea .So go ahead and laugh ...

Shet 66SIX,...that Hobbit is worth a cool $600 easy-peezy...Please keep it intact, if you must have that front end, then find it on something a little less desirable. The Hobbit looks CHERRY. you will make a ped-head soooo happy to pass this Hobbit along and buy a sweet fork from Takegawa or Kitaco with disc brake. Take a look at siggy's thread and check out the forks on some of those Monkey bikes he posted.....

the only thing i am worried about, is that if i do stretch the rear part of the suspension unit, is that i will need a bigger shock. is it possible to get an aftermarket shock or do you think the original will work?

Stretching the rear would improve handling in terms of increased front wheel weight.
666- look at an Urban Express front end.
