IS this the CDI and what does it do? does it "tell" the coil when to fire the spark plug? if so then this isnt my problem. i read that my cdi could be bad. im gonna find a rebuild kit for my motor on ebay if i have to

yes that is the cdi, you can test to make sure it works properly by using a multitester to check the ohms, the manual will tell you how to test it

Stop taking s*** off of it and sell it to me before you destroy it. I have a 2006 Yamaha TTR 50 I may trade you if you want it. Do you have any pics of your scooter? I may even drive up there and scoop it up how far away from nashville, tn do you live?
